It seems this year that the April showers are arriving in late May, causing our Small Town Memorial Day Ceremony to be postponed.

The observance will now take place on Thursday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Forest Parkway and Jamaica Avenue. Please try to attend and commemorate, although belatedly, and share your own experiences or those of your family members that served and are serving our country now.

Throughout Woodhaven, streets are being milled and repaved and we are thankful for these improvements. In line with this, we are encouraging any residents and storeowners to report to our office any curbs that have to be repaired or any overflowing catch basins so we can add these locations to this project.

Now that summer is officially here, enjoy your Forest Park. On June 12 at 1 p.m., there will be a performance of “Charlotte's Web” at Sobelsohn Playground at Park Lane South and Abington Road sponsored by Councilman Eric Ulrich.

On Saturday, June 10, in Howard Beach there will be a rain barrel giveaway. Call (718) 738-1111 to reserve your barrel.

Fly your American flag proudly above all others in memory of those we have lost. May God bless our armed forces, may God bless our disabled veterans, may God bless our leaders, may God bless our NYPD and police officers everywhere, and may God bless our America.
